Juliana Fanjul (Mexico, 1981)
Independent director specialized in documentary film. Her cinematographic training begins in Mexico (communication degree at the Universidad Iberoamericana), passing through Cuba (International School of Cinema and Television 2007-2010) and ending in Switzerland (Master in Filmmaking with honorable mention, Geneva School of Fine Arts , 2012-2014).
Her films question power relations in female universes. Her documentaries I am a black woman (2022), Silencio Radio (2019), Muchachas (2015) and If we continue alive (2010) have been screened at festivals around the world. world such as IDFA, Visions du Réel, Ficunam, Guadalajara or Ambulante and received various recognitions.
He has also filmed for the Al Jazeera English network Cuba Calling (2014) and for Swiss Television L'Ospedale degli animali (2016) and Dottor Clown (2015) . She is a teacher in Geneva, Switzerland since 2020 and is the Head of the Documentary Chair at the International School of Film and Television, in Cuba.
Juliana Fanjul has vast experience in advertising. For eight years she worked in Mexico as a freelance assistant director alongside directors such as Jorge Aguilera, Oliver Castro, Enrique Begné, Norman Christianson and Mario Muñoz, among others. She was also AD in two fiction feature films (Julia, by Erick Zonca 2008) and (The sleep dealer, by Alex Rivera 2008).
