DAUGHTERS OF WITCHES

BY - FARIDE SCHROEDER

Year - 2021

DAUGHTERS OF WITCHES is a fiction short film that mixes paranormal terror with the fantasy and mysticism of Mexican legends and the wisdom of curanderas, still hidden and feared by much of the contemporary Western world.
It tells the story of Clara (Yalitza Aparicio), a woman now residing in the United States, who returns to Mexico to introduce her newborn daughter to her family. Clara and her baby have to participate in an ancient family ritual in the middle of the forest, even against Clara's husband's prejudice and her own apprehension as a new mother.
